Gone For Good was founded in 2006 in Birmingham, Alabama by United Ability to provide secure document and e-waste destruction services. From the beginning, the brand was built with a dual purpose: delivering compliant, secure information destruction while creating meaningful employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. The mission is embedded into daily operations through a structured employment model that provides skill development, stability, and purpose.
In 2016, Abe Bernstein joined the organization to provide operational leadership and business restructuring. Through 2017-2018, operational improvements were implemented as the business continued to mature and expand its customer base. In 2022, a franchising consultant was engaged to support development of the franchise model, and in 2024, Gone For Good Franchising, LLC formally began offering franchises and expanding the brand nationally. Every location adheres to the highest industry standards for security, compliance, and environmental responsibility.

Gone For Good operates in alignment with the highest certification in the secure destruction industry. NAID AAA certification ensures every location follows rigorous chain-of-custody procedures, documented destruction protocols, and security practices that meet or exceed regulatory requirements. In a market where many local providers operate without consistent standards or formal certifications, Gone For Good delivers the compliance that businesses and organizations require.
Gone For Good isn't just a service company, it's a mission-driven brand that integrates meaningful employment for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities into its operating model. Franchisees may engage local organizations that support employment for individuals with disabilities, creating a powerful differentiator that resonates with socially conscious clients and strengthens community partnerships.
The business operates in a B2B service category driven by ongoing security and compliance needs. Core revenue comes from scheduled document destruction, electronic waste destruction and recycling, one-time purge projects, and ongoing service relationships with organizations. Many customers require repeat services, and B2B relationships support long-term engagement creating a revenue model that compounds over time.
